This book deals with and important aspect of the Vedic ritual viz the magicoreligious domestic ritual described in the texts called Vidhana. The vidhana texts form and extension of the Grhyasutras and they prescribe magicoreligious rituals for getting various desires fulfilled. These texts also prescribe Vedic formulaes to be used in the magicoreligious rituals. This application is rather of the "secondary" nature while the "primary" application is found in the srauta rituals. A detailed study of the Vidhana-literature, the ritual described in it and the peculiarities of the applicability of the Vedic mantras in it forms a special feature of this book.… (altro)
