- Mary Robinette Kowal is the 2008 recipient of the Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and the author of Shades of Milk and Honey, published by Tor Books in 2010. Her short fiction appears in Strange Horizons, Cosmos and Asimov's. Mary, a professional puppeteer and voice actor, lives in Portland, OR.

El destino celeste (La astronauta universo #2) di Mary Robinette Kowal
El primero me gustó mucho y creo que este es mejor incluso, quizá porque gran parte sucede en el espacio. Un libro de viaje espacial, con una tripulación carismática y muchas dosis de ciencia bastante fiel a como seria en la realidad, my kind of jam.
La historia alternativa bien hecha me flipa siempre.
Leyendo este libro, no podía evitar imaginarme una serie que adaptase esta historia, no sé a que están esperando para hacerla.
La descripción de la caída del meteorito impresiona y te engancha las primeras paginas para ya no soltarte, pero es luego el costumbrismo y rutina de una agencia espacial, y el personaje de Elma, lo que hace que no quieras parar de pasar cada pagina. Si a estos ingredientes base le sumamos una critica al racismo y las discriminación de la época, aunque sea otra realidad, dota al libro de muchos momentos únicos que explorar.

Two stories for the price of one. Mary Robinette Kowal treats her readers to two versions of the same story, which is pretty fun, especially for another writer like me. For Want of a Nail revolves around a seemingly insoluble conflict; a machine meant to remember things needs maintenance or it will forget, and a human has a similar though more difficult problem. Do you save the machine or the person. Discuss.
