This book is a collection of stories about animals in the Near East. Each story for itself would probably get 4 stars. However, the whole thing gets rather repetitive. Of the 13 stories, 4 are about animals suspected of being spies. Many stories (including those) happened decades ago, and the journalist reconstructs the stories by interviewing those who remember the original events. Certain questions get asked over and over again without any chance of being answered.

The photographs are generally unconnected to the text, and would be greatly improved by having captions. They certainly are a big asset to the book.… (altro)
