The interesting & conscientious (if somewhat summary) story of one of the "fathers" of the Royal Navy's superiority. Samuel Pepys (1633-1703, pronounced Peeps) gained posthumous renown for his detailed & lively Diaries. But in his own age, as a well placed higher administrator, he helped streamline the Royal Navy from every conceivable point of view - finances, supplies, construction, career structure - grooming it as a future machine for global domination.
