Laurie R. King is the bestselling author of "A Darker Place," four contemporary novels featuring Kate Martinelli, and five acclaimed Mary Russell mysteries. She lives in northern California. Her newest book is the ninth one in the Mary Russell mystery series, The Language of Bees. (Publisher mostra altro Provided) Laurie R. The Lantern's Dance: A novel of suspense featuring… di Laurie R. King
A satisfying entry in the Russell/Holmes series, with several plot twists that caught me by surprise. As always, I recommend those new to the storyline start with the first two books, at least.

RIP Jenny Sterlin. I’ve listened to her read every book in this series until this, the eighteenth adventure of Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes. I missed the audio performance, but I still enjoyed the story.
It is fortunate that after the previous 17 books I am practiced at suspending my disbelief. This book takes on the convoluted Holmes family history. It’s a family that includes his son, Damian, Damian’s mixed race daughter, Estelle, and Damian’s fiance. They are all very interesting characters sadly overlooked in the original Conan Doyle stories. Also overlooked by the founding author, the mother of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. Their mother ?!? Yes. And an even more unlikely connection to the British Raj.
It was fun. I’m willing to believe every word.… (altro)

Another wonderful book by Laurie King. In this one Mary and Sherlock go to Japan and it is as if I traveled with them. Aside from the mystery, which was very good, I love being swept along on their travels and learning about other cultures. Now I have to wait a year for the next one to come out.
