Mister Glow-Bones and Other Halloween Tales di Ronald Kelly

Astonishing writing. My mother introduced this author to me and I am more than pleased with picking up his work. His storytelling reads both, seasoned and nostalgic, and his work is classic with a unique twist. But the stories I found most fascinating were the ones told from his own personal experiences and perspective. I definitely will be reading more from him.

Fear di Ronald Kelly

As an avid horror reader....and HUGE Ronald Kelly fan.... I'm ashamed to admit this is my first time reading this book...I think....there were parts that rang a bell, seemed familiar, almost deja-vu like ...I may have read this years ago when it was released by Zebra....but, I digress....it was exceptional!!

I now realize that "Under the branches"....which is included here.....but also in RKs Christmas anthology, where I read it .. was a sequel of sorts to Fear. I love this. RKs Fear county has earned its ranks in the horror genre mythos.

As usual, RK has created characters in Fear that stick with you long after the final page....character creation is where he shines.

After reading this masterpiece, I completely understand the praise its gotten throughout the years.....while I can't agree with others that Fear is the best book he's ever written....I happen to love his others equally.....it has earned its spot among my favorites.....and is definitely one of my top 3 favorite coming of age novels ....along with McCammons "Boys life", Bradburys "Something wicked this way comes", and Salingers "Catcher in the Rye".

I also deeply appreciate the intro by Brian Keene....another of my favorite writers.

I am highly anticipating.....anxiously awaiting ....chomping at the bits.....for "Fear eternal"....it can't come fast enough!!… (altro)

Something Out There di Ronald Kelly

This is one of Ron's earlier works. I enjoyed it as much as I do all of his books. One of the reasons I find his work so amazing, is his ability to create unique stories in a genre that can be very monotonous. The cast of characters was entertaining, as always......I really appreciated and enjoyed the additional short at the end that gives you insight into Fletcher Brice and his unyielding loyalty to the mountains inhabitants.

Pitfall di Ronald Kelly

This is one of Kelly's first few published books.....his second, I believe. With most writers there's this marked transition, where their writing changes as they put more work out..........the fact that this isn't the case with Ron, is one of the reasons I love him so. When you read a Ronald Kelly book, you know exactly what you're getting, regardless of publication date.

Don't get me wrong, there's a subtle nuance of difference in his newer work, you can see the development of his brilliant writing skills becoming a bit more seasoned......but, the heart and bones, the flesh, are the same. The same natural ability to tell great stories.....without the over showy prose that can often interfere with the story itself.

Pitfall is chock full of fantastic characters.....Bowie Kane being the best of all. Scary Tasmanian devil creatures, ancient Native and Mexican folklore, and a small Texas town.....all the ingredients for an amazing read.......and it is!… (altro)
