This style of guide, short at 160 pages and commonly found in natural museum gift shops, just doesn't work for me. There are simply too few examples of the commonly encountered trees, shrubs, flowering plants, birds, mammals, etc. For example, the book has illustrations of 2 species of Warbler, 3 species of Sparrow. That is barely "an introduction to familiar" species.
You're not going to find what you are looking for. An alternative to carting around a half dozen comprehensive guides, might be to have a guide for each of the significant ecological regions of the State.… (altro)
