c. I really enjoyed this book because it is about a topic that can be troubling to some students, and that it tells the a lot more than what the text says just through the pictures and through imagination. This is a good book for students to read, not because of the troubling subject, but because it is a different subject. Students need to be aware of the different things that happen to other children in their life. The diversity of students is growing massively and students need to be aware of all if not most of the differentiation in the world. I also like it because it is a topic I have never read about, and made me wonder about other children as well. Through the pictures and the text there is a lot of information, some of which are not said or seen, the information lies in the readers imagination. For example at the end of the book the text said, “Tomorrow she is sure that she will dare…” meaning that she will give her new mom a kiss, a hug, and sing and dance, she will do all these things because she sees after 1 day that she will be accepted. I believe the big picture of the book is that students need to be aware of the different lives that students’ come from, whether it is having divorced parents, or no parents, or living with grandparents, etc. Students should not judge people because they may not look the same because their mother is Caucasian and they are African American. Be open to the books you give your children do not keep them secluded to only books that won’t harm their nature, let them be free to explore the things they like, don’t like, understand, and don’t understand.… (altro)
