There were also a lot of questionable relationships - no spoiler, but no one seemed to care that much for each other except the people who probably shouldn't be in a relationship, and it felt like everyone else just wanted to kill someone or ruin their life. What I thought started out as a pseudo intelligent book with an interesting mystery theme devolved into an action-thriller movie, so if that's your genre, it works. Not a waste of time but I won't read the next one even with the cliffhanger ending.… (altro)

A little slow at the beginning, setting up the characters, but a lot of good action and a tastefully described torture scene.
Cliffhanger ending. Set up for next book. This said part 1, book 3. I’m not sure what that means but there are references to past police cases. Overall an enjoyable read.

I did like the book, but I did not like the extreme violence I sometimes read about.
So, three stars.
