Cute items, just need some time to try them! I'm still not sure about the ribbon belts with duct tape backing. It sounded reasonable when I saw it in the book but then when I went to the store to get the materials, it didn't seem right; the duct tape would be too wide and take too much cutting. Can't seem to find shrinky dink plastic anymore either. Oh well, I have lots of other projects to complete. Might try the potholder out of felted wool. That was cute and simple looking.

Adult nonfiction; crafts/low-sew. Cute ideas, but most of them rely on freezer paper- or other fancy printing/transferiing techniques. As such, this craft book isn't going to be as accessible to readers who can't or don't want to "go there."

I really only glanced through this book as it is due at the library and I am not going to have much time to get to know it intimately. One of the things I like about it is the tone in which the author writes. Her introduction is really nice in that she tells the story of her sewing life.

As with many project books, there are a few projects that I really like and others that I would never make. Still, [a:Jodi Kahn|258366|Jodi Kahn|http://www.goodreads.com/images/nophoto/nophoto-U-50x66.jpg] talks about the project in a conversational way. She tells the reader why he is having them do things and gives tips about the materials. There is an undertone of encouragement in the writing, which I like.

I also like the novel materials that she uses. One thing that I thought was a great idea was the t-shirt bag. She uses Duct tape a interfacing, which I think is ingenious.

Definitely worth a look.

Things I Learned: I'm on my way to being elegant, according to the list titled "Simply Chic: ... a month's worth of ideas to nurture elegance, one day at a time." I still have aways to go, but hey! At least I write thank you notes! Thank you, Nana Norway, for answering my thank you notes with your beautiful letters!

Comments: A very well-written little book, with cute illustrations. Lots of ideas on how to live with elegance in these harried modern times. Tips on everything from what should be in your wardrobe, how clothes should fit, and organizing your closet, to how to write a thank you note and how to end a relationship (HINT: breaking up by e-mail or voicemail is most definitely NOT elegant!).

This would be helpful for the young girl just starting out in her social life (age 12 or 13) to the woman who wants to improve her style and elegance IQ (I fall into this category). Geared toward women with busy lives, but who doesn't have a busy life these days?
