Major software failures that have happened in these years are explored in a separate chapter. The final chapter of the book describes ongoing developments and provides a projection of the future until 2019.

Applied Software Measurement: Global Analysis of… di Capers Jones

This is not a book you would read cover to cover, but one you would go back and refer to again and again when you need information about software metrics. Apart from descriptions of methods and approaches for software measurements and metrics, it provides a wealth of metrics data from around the world - an invaluable reference for benchmarking. Every software engineering practitioner should have this book in his library.
