Clay Jenkinson

I was very disappointed in this book. I am a big fan of Jefferson, especially his limited government philosophy. I've also been a fan of Clay Jenkinson, having enjoyed many hours of his The Jefferson Hour podcasts. He always seemed to do a credible job capturing Jefferson's spirit and personality. I guess I thought the author would give some guidance on how to get back to Jefferson's idea of a government small enough to protect individual rights and responsibilities. Instead, he mostly dwells on Jefferson's love of the good life, suggesting books, music, science, food, and other cultural niceties can still be enjoyed, while dismissing small government as just not possible for our complicated times. Becoming Jefferson's People admits Jefferson would be horrified by the size and scope of the government in the United States who would probably be a liberal Democrat were he still among us.
