The author and illustrator's enthusiasm for frogs absolutely shines through this bright, informative book. Primary text in larger font is good to read aloud for younger audiences, while smaller secondary text provides more detail.

Beautiful endpapers show tadpoles in transition, and back matter includes some additional frogs ("[we] wanted to get as many frogs as possible into this book, so here are a few more, just for fun"), an index, and some websites.

Truly gorgeous drawings of animals conversational, emotional, fact-filled text = one powerful book about endangered species.

I particularly loved how reasonable, yet persuasive the writing was. For example, the closing paragraph:

"When it comes to looking after all the species that are already endangered, there's such a lot to do that sometimes it might all seem to be too much, especially when there are so many other important things to worry about. But if we stop trying, the chances are that pretty soon we'll end up with a world where there are no tigers or elephants, or sawfishes or whooping cranes, or albatrosses or ground iguanas. And I think that would be a shame, don't you?"… (altro)

A Walk Through the Rain Forest takes you on an adventure exploring the Malaysian rainforest and encourages you to listen. Once you stop to listen you begin to learn through conversational prose about the amazing and thriving ecosystem. All the information presented is concise and easy to understand. The stunning perspectives shown in black and white artwork are so realistic you might assume they were photographs. Four large two-page spreads include an elephant along with three other animals found in the rainforest. Additional information about the rainforest and animals and insects that live there can be found at the end of the book along with a short index. This book is crafted in a way that would please readers of all ages.… (altro)
