Het boek focust op de bijdragen van Britse reizigers, kunstenaars en Egyptologen. Het bevat veel pittoreske negentiende-eeuwse afbeeldingen van de Nijlvallei, maar naar mijn smaak wat te weinig voorbeelden van het materiaal waar het eigenlijk om draait. Toch wel vreemd dat je een heel boek wijdt aan de manier waarop kunstenaars probeerden om nauwgezet te kopiëren, maar niet echt de moeite doet om die afbeeldingen ook te tonen, laat staan er een kort hoofdstukje aan te wijden.… (altro)
