I've always been fascinated with ballet, having taken lessons when I was a child and again when I was 30 years old. The author makes ballet accessible to the layperson by discussing its history, many of its premier dancers through the ages, its famous presentations such as "Swan Lake," "La Sylphide," etc., the important positions such as arabesque and pointe, reading a program, the components of a dance troupe, composers, choreographers, and on and on.
