For any work with Theurgy, divination, high magic, a structure is required. Iamblichus furnishes the world with a structure that is foundational and well-grounded in practices of antiquity. What I have won as an inquirer through years of toiled and suffered observations of the aetheric worlds he masterfully elucidates in a single volume. I often stood corrected, sometimes a bit proud that I could expand on some of high thoughts of his. One can recognize a master's mind at work in an often complex but evident manner in the greater context of theory and praxis that the son of Chalcis engaged. This book is to be read with Intellect, patience and an open heart, all waves and threads inter-sect with each other in a panharmonic One. I will definitely return to it after some time to have a fresh look at it, and after tweaking my own performance in arrays of life and the Divine. If the golden chain of Plato and neo-platonists was ever-broken, be assured that if you open your souls in receptiveness to these teachings, the golden thread is suspended above the visible heavens, and past masters and mistresses no longer walking amongst us on Earth will gladly teach us in proportion and accordance to our preparation. I finished this book right after my loved one recommended Agnes Obel's "Familiar" music to me. In this atmosphere, I would like to convey this review.… (altro)

Human wisdom is like children’s toys compared to the essence it represents. It is disregarded by fools because of that, embraced by prudent souls for the purpose of opening a greater vista to the power it represents. To intellegize, the soul individuated and fixed in a mortal needs to reflect upon images (condensed experiences), mental formations contained in hermetic imagination that lead through notions into mathematical, or systematic precision that help discover laws that bind the soul to the intelligible whole. All philosophies are allegories of a deeply occulted machinery, that are useful inasmuch as they enable us to reflect and incorporate its laws by practice. The image, though, imagination and experience, and so on - they are conducive to realization, but they are as they are - children’s toys in the gargantuan vastness of phenomena and noumena. An interesting treatise on pneumatology.… (altro)

A profound elucidation of Tetractys components, from the Monad to the Decad, and weaving them into a whole of the Monad again. If we take a transcendent view in which mathematics has its own Pythagorean-Platonic realities that co-arise with the visible world (phenomenal, or Demiurgic world), and combine it with the Chaldean views of thrice-transcendent worlds divided by the veils of Hekate, it gives a moderate view of how the ancients viewed proportions, or ratio and logos between things and how they related their existence to the penetration in the generative world. Most likely, I will return to this book for more, as I progress with my studies, to round and 'wholize' certain finer aspects that I haven't caught earlier. It must be noted, that scientific knowledge of the modern day goes together with this scientia, it is a question of extending the base foundations and extending them towards the treasuries of modern astronomy. For example - although we discovered Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Eris etc. The system presented is wholly consistent within the seven spheres, and thus is finite and perfected according to means and tools. It takes merely a step of imaginative theology to link these mysteries into one splendid whole once again.… (altro)
