- Breve biografia
- Eliza Humphreys, née Gollan, was born at Gollanfield in Inverness-shire. Her father, a Scottish businessman, travelled extensively, and Eliza received little formal education. Eliza was a prolific and popular novelist and short story writer in her day. She began writing under the pseudonym "Rita," and also used the name Mrs. W. Desmond Humphreys. However, after World War I, her popularity waned. Her autobiography, Recollections of a Literary Life, was published in 1936. She was also noted as a co-founder of the Writers’ Club for Women.
