If this isn't a powerhouse cast, I don't know what is. This recording also came with a 200 piece jigsaw puzzle that is definitely not for small children. Will go back and listen again, once I've gone through all of my operas alphabetically. hashtag germanorwhat

Summary:
This is the story of two children whose stepmother concocts a plan to get rid of them by leading them into the woods. After several days of wandering aimlessly about the woods they came upon a house made of gingerbread and candy and began to eat. A witch came out and snatched them. As she tried to cook them in the oven, they escaped and cooked her.

Personal Reaction:
I have always loved this story because it symbolizes the children's perserverence.

Extension Ideas:
1. This is a great book to read when talking about how children always needs to stick together.
2. This is also a great book to read when introducing traditional literature to children who haven't been read to alot in their lifetime because it is very interesting.

This is the classic story of Hansel and Gretal. Their stepmother wants to get rid of them because they don't have enough money to feed all of them. So they lead them off in the woods and leave them. THe kids search for something to eat eventually after 3 days they find a house made up of food. They start eating it then an old lady comes out and makes them be her slaves. They eventually push her in the oven and are free. This book may scare young children if they don't know its fake. But, could be used during classic book week.… (altro)
