This is a fun math concept book. A new reindeer joins the school and it’s put their number at 13 so when the groups are told to pair there is always a remain-deer. The book rhymes well and gets it’s lesson across. Kids will understand it and the play on words of remainder and remain – DEER. All in all, this was a fabulous math book that got the concept of prime numbers across in an excellent understandable way.

The language of the book beautifully describes sounds, listening, and rhythms of weaving. Unfortunately the illustrations do not always match the text and left me feeling disjointed. For example text refering to "foot pedal" joins an image where a foot pedal isn't used. The "Clack. Clack. Swish - pull back" remind me of a large loom while the image shows a loom held in the lap, where the sounds would likely be absorbed into the weaver's clothing.

Rhyming text and gouache illustrations using red, blue, black, and orangey-brown weave together effectively in this tale of textiles, with rich back matter.
