(mini-review)
There's definitely *heat* between Lynn and Dan, but the story is so much more than physical attraction. The whole atmosphere of the story was full of heat: sunny days, summer vacation, swimming pools, and yet Dan always wears long-sleeved shirts, so he feels even hotter and sweatier than everyone else. So basically, the author and translator nail the physical and emotional attraction between the leads, the hazy atmosphere of the setting, and even the sense that these two damaged people are both familiar with being in hot water. There's more angst than sex, but I don't mean that to sound dismissive; these two have serious stuff from their pasts, and the angst felt completely legitimate to me. I was excited to see at the end of the book that there are at least two more books translated or coming soon. I'll definitely be reading more from Lis Lucassen.… (altro)

It was a pretty good book actually.. I personally never read short stories but it was truly a great experience. The stories were very well written, beautiful and ...simply perfect. No unnecessary sentences, no lengthy descriptions, perfect amount of emotions and events taking place.
I would rate all three stories individually with a perfect 5 stars :)
It is the first time i read a book by Mara Li and Lis Lucassen. Both the stories by these authors were very interesting. I have read Jen Minkman before. And i would really appreciate the efforts of Author Jen Minkman who translated these beautiful stories in English and provided us to read :) I really like this author for her writing skills and now for this new translation skill is like an extra gem in her :)
Great efforts by Jen Minkman.

Another great effort by Jen Minkman, she did the translation of this pretty amazing book and gave us the opportunity to read it.
The Author, of course has written a great story. It sucked me in from the beginning and i just couldn't put it down. I am a fan of Lis Lucassen now, and thanks to Jen that i am able to read her book.

The story and writing was very appreciative and sooo real i could feel myself around all the events going on. I loved loved loved the characters of Dan and Lynn. They were the two broken people, running from their past, that followed them like nightmares, being a survivor of attempted suicide and a witness to a serious crime. I felt like i was in their world. feeling all the tensions all the heart breaking emotions. Their relation was very beautiful and i loved the chemistry between them.

An amazing read with a unique story!

Olga Hoekstra is the first-ever New Adult author from Holland and I feel honoured that I have given the opportunity to read this book before its release on June 10th! To be honest, this book gave me a lot of firsts. I usually just read NA books and I couldn’t imagine writing a review for one because it is out of my comfort zone. Now, I am glad I have done it! It’s like another door has been opened for me.

‘Heat’ is a book written in alternate POVs of the two main characters who are two broken people struggling and running away from their pasts. I know some of you are not fond of alternate POVs, but don’t fret! It’s actually fitting to the story and there are some moments were Dan and Lynn’s perspectives overlap that I find amusing especially how they reacted to a particular scene.

I liked how the author has written the story with descriptions that are easy to visualize and connect to the book considering some parts are totally relatable because of how the characters handled the situation. It makes the story not unrealistic. With that said, Dan's erratic behaviour and Lynn's personality towards everyone will keep looking for answers why they both are like that.

There are also things that I loved in this book. I was able to connect strongly to Lynn that sometimes I felt I was in her shoes which resulted to feeling her tension to Dan, to her past and to everything, really. It made me stop reading a few times and I think it was incredible. Dan and Lynn’s relationship not just in love, but also their struggles had progressed in spite of similarities and differences which made them more suitable for each other. Also, while you are reading the book, you will see and feel Dan and Lynn’s palpable attraction to each other! Lastly, I am amazed how Hoekstra depicted the characters that suffered through the hard topics involved in this book, in a good way.

What made me curious is what Steve said to Dan when he confronted him. Is there a next book? Do I get an insight about Steve? I'm so excited!!

Overall, you can say that ‘Heat' is a predictable read, but Hoekstra's writing style drags you into the story with its strong details that makes it unpredictable. This book clearly deserves the buzz!

"I received a review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review."
