This book provides a concise account of Indian philosophy. It begins with early Indian thought, summarises Vedic religion and philosophy and goes on to deal with the great scholastic systems of Indian thought which evolved after the close of the Vedic period.

The late Professor M. Hiriyanna ranks among the foremost exponents of Indian philosophy. This book, 'The Quest After Perfection', is a collection of essays containing the Principal Miller Lectures which Hiriyanna delivered at the Madras University (India) in 1940, and a few other contributions on the philosophy of values.

Hiriyanna characterizes Indian philosophy as essentially a philosophy of values, or purusharthas as they are called In India - 'artha' the economic good, 'kama' the hedonistic good, 'dharma' the moral value and 'moksha' the final spiritual value which is the ultimate good.… (altro)
