Great book -- hard to put down. Shane is a young baseball playing middle school student, with a new crush on a girl, a solid best friend, and one parent who really gets him. Unfortunately, his Dad doesn't get him in the same way, and between that negotiation and a crisis with a bully, Shane is effectively outed as trans. Well written, with a lot of realistic feeling, emotions and events. I loved that the school administrators and staff were immediate and unflinching support, even though there's a limit to what adults can do. I also loved the ways Shane's mom supported him.
