I highly recommend this book as a bible study type book. I found it very helpful and encouraging. I didn't realize I had forgotten to review it when I read it but I think I will spend some time reviewing this book again.

True North is a great book dealing with how to make the right choices when facing frustrations that enter your life. There is a lot of great life application in this book. It helped me to think through why I react the way I do when things don't go the way I expect them to go. It showed me how I am grasping at things around me to help life run smoothly instead of turning to the Lord to satisfy and sustain me. There are some things in the book that I didn't agree with, but over all the book has a great message and would very beneficial. This book includes discussion questions at the end of each chapter and would be great for small group bible studies.
I highly recommend this book!
*** I received this book for free from LIbrary Thing in exchange for an honest review of the book.

This is a life changing book! It is eye-opening and so thought provoking, and definitely worth the time to carefully read, contemplate, and apply it to your life. It is written from two different perspectives, and is very easy to relate to. Everyone faces frustrations in life, and this book is a wonderful guide in understanding the truth about where those frustrations are coming from and what we each can do to overcome them and choose God's way of dealing with them.

NCLA Review: Using diagrams, the authors explain that “going north” means moving toward God, and “going south” is moving in the opposite direction. Being in the middle is “groaning,” experiencing the frustrations of everyday life. “Grumbling,” when you give in to emotions is the first indication that you are headed south, and “grasping” is trying to take control through power, performance, punishment, possessions, and/or pleasures. Gary Helm is a psychologist and Lisa Helm is a counselor, which is reflected in their writing. If you like diagrams, you will like the ones in this book, which are explained with examples. Some readers will not agree with the theology, but the book is well researched. Each chapter ends with questions for self-examination and discussion, which makes the book useful to classes or individuals. Rating: 3 —AMB… (altro)
