A marriage on the rocks causes Kevin and Kylie to reevaluate what their relationship, vows, and family means. Healey clearly describes the daily drudgery of marries life when one or both partners question it value. The characters are shallow with some twists and turns. The ending is not what you would expect.

This engrossing and well written book was difficult for me to read because of the amount of emotions it stirred. The main character, John Lawer, was a man that I didn't like nor did I want to. He was a self-centered, egotistical drunk and a liar - all the qualities I loved to hate. There were times I almost felt sorry for him (I said almost) and wanted him to redeem himself, but then feeling would change and I wanted him to get exactly what I thought he deserved.

This will be one book I won't soon forget.

Please note - this book may offend some as it is about a homosexual man and his family.

Cute, Witty little tales of Bryan's younger years. From playing Superman, to baseball tales, to heading off to college. All in playful, fun anecdotes. I can remember myself doing some of these things or even my children.
All told with the greatest imagination and descriptions to make you smile the whole way through, and even laugh out loud once or twice.
Very enjoyable reading. Thank you to Mr. Healey for brightening an otherwise lousy day.

Devotion is a very short story in the fantasy genre. In some ways, it feel more like a prologue to a longer story which I guess, in fact, it is. I'm a huge fan of the genre and this certainly has potential to be a very interesting story. Unfortunately, this story is not, at least for me, the best introduction to it. The problem for me was that the characters are unlikeable. Don't get me wrong. My favourite fantasy writers are those who have great bad guys but, somehow, these writers always make even the most psychotic of these baddies human and likeable.

But, as I said, this story shows potential. Mr Healey is clearly a good writer and understands the tropes of fantasy (something many Indie writers don't). There is some pretty interesting world building here. If he has added some more three-dimensional characters or has fleshed out those in this story like Richard, then I expect the book, itself, should be well worth a read.
