Introductory Phonology (Blackwell Textbooks in… di Bruce Hayes
I was drawn to this book after I found 2 pages where the author explained he couldn't make the distinction about a dental and an alveolar Hindi phoneme. I was interested about dental vs alveolar and this book opened my eyes.
Dry but clear, this book is a solid survey of Sound Patterns of English-style phonology. In addition to the rules-and-features material that you would expect, Hayes devotes space to syllabification, tone, and semi-productive processes. There a few exercises at the end of each chapter. This would be a suitable textbook for an introductory phonology class.
