Rileggo la società libera di Friedrich von Hayek a distanza di 14 anni. Allora la mia opinione fu convinta “un libro incredibile. Una serie, interminabile, di riflessioni sulla libertà. O meglio riflessioni che vorresti non terminassero mai. Von Hayek parte dal rapporto tra Stato e cittadino, individuando nell’ambito dell’organizzazione delle collettività, intese come organismi organizzati, gli spazi di limitazione delle libertà individuali. La battaglia dei liberali contro le maggioranze che tendono ad imporre le loro prospettive, le loro omologazioni, è in ogni pagina. Straordinaria è la semplicità di esposizione di concetti complessi. Von Hayek non se ne lascia sfuggire pressoché nessuno. Sembra un manuale per la puntuale rassegna dei problemi man mano individuati dall’autore. Ma che bello un manuale di libertà. Perché questa è la società libera. Testo attualissimo a circa 50 anni dalla prima pubblicazione. Giusto per capire le difficoltà delle moderne democrazie e garantire le libertà ai cittadini. La prima edizione è del 1960. L’anno dopo fu eretto il muro a Berlino. La cultura prevalente di allora era quella socialista. E lui scriveva un libro del genere; ulteriore merito dell’autore. Non mi è piaciuta la postfazione di Sergio Ricossa che sconta la presunzione di parte degli intellettuali italiani. Diventa, al solito, autoreferenziale. Non c’era bisogno. Per il resto, un libro fondamentale”. Oggi l’esperienza mi porta ad essere un po' più freddo, ma anche alla luce della piena consapevolezza che le dinamiche della politica economica sono talmente complesse che la libertà richiede la presenza di uno Stato forte. Per cui alcune riflessioni che mi sembrarono pienamente condivisibili 15 anni fa oggi mi lasciano un po' più scettico.… (altro)
