This catalogue was published in conjunction with a touring exhibition, held at the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, January 25 - March 9, 2003.

Ed Pien’s exuberant drawing style with images drawn from both Chinese and European sources has given new life to a traditionally formal endeavor. While Pien’s work calls up any number of mythic, ritualistic and actual journeys and while his images evoke suffering and deprivation, the visitor walks away from the multi-sensorial experience feeling uplifted and elated.
