Papers from a conference, 1983. There are several general chapters covering the effects of the 1973 and 1979 oil shocks and one on the blowups and authoritarian regimes. There are individual papers on 4 Souther American countries, Mexico, Cuba, and Nicaragua The papers show a pattern of one regime change after another, one crisis after another, and frequent US interference. An excellent book.
