In December, 2018. in response to a U.S. request under an extradition treaty, Canada arrested Meng Wanzhou, CFO of Huawei. Shortly afterwards, two Canadians, Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig were arrested in China and accused of spying. It is also the broader story of Canada - China relations. And of the fight to control or play a major role in 5G networks across the world. And it's a story of resilience, rule of law and democratic values.

The authors provide insight into the legal battle of Ms. Meng, the diplomatic efforts to secure the release and more humane treatment of Messrs.. Spavor and Kovrig, and the broader context in which all this unfolded. An interesting book that probes important questions.

Almost every one suggested areas where Canada could or should be more involved. How do we choose? How should we choose? Those were questions I was intriguted by after reading this volume.… (altro)
