I don't like the Clintons but for some reason I read every book about them that I can. There have been so many that there is little new in this book, but any new nugget fascinates me.The recurring message i get from every book about them that I read is how self serving they are. Everything they do has an ulterior motive. And we get little sense of how vastly wealthy they are. aneither of them rides on public aircraft. They insist that a LARGE private jet be provided for their usage.

Things written about Bill and Hilary Clinton are usually either smarmy or else cast them as an American edition of the Borgias. Halper's book is definitely more in the latter category. He certainly seems to have interviewed a ton of people and their comments about the Clintons show them to be brilliant and complicated but fuzzy on ethics. Also interesting is the author's focus on Chelsea Clinton and his speculation that she is going to play a bigger part in her parent's decision making from here on in.

I haven't paid much attention to what Hilary Clinton was up to since she became secretary of state, so I'd hoped that this book would answer some questions, but I'm not sure it does unless you want to find out what lots of players--major and minor--think about Bill and Hilary.
