G. Stanley Hall (1844–1924)
Autore di Adolescence - Its Psychology and Its Relations to Physiology, Anthropology, Sociology, Sex, Crime, and Religion (1931)
Sull'Autore
The American psychologist G. Stanley Hall received a Ph.D. in psychology from Harvard University, the first person in the United States to be granted this newly established degree. He is more important as an organizer and administrator than as an original thinker in psychology, although he did much mostra altro to advance the study of childhood and adolescence. The first of many Americans to study under Wilhelm Wundt at Heidelberg, he also studied at Bonn and Berlin. Hall then became a professor of psychology at Johns Hopkins University, where in 1884 he opened the first university psychology laboratory in the United States. Three years later, he helped found the American Journal of Psychology. In 1889 he became the first president of Clark University, as well as a professor of psychology. He was one of the first Americans to teach Freud's views, and Freud's visit to the United States in 1906 was at Hall's invitation. (Bowker Author Biography) mostra meno
