Book Title: Sick of Being Healthy
Author: Monisha K Gumber
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ‘ Sick of Being Healthy ‘ is very different and witty

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is clip art of a young woman in a bikini with a crown of a winner at a beauty pageant.

Plot:
The story is about Tara Kapoor, a young girl who doesn’t fit for the so-called today’s society which is made up of all stupid taboos and rules. She is a chubby, bubbly, and fun-loving girl who is always in a dreamland of finding that Mr.Perfect. But once she comes to know that such a person doesn’t exist, she turns on different ways to find a man to love. After trying everything, she decides to tone up her body and she plans to shed weight. She feels that she is unfit to find a man to love because of her physical structure.

The story is all about her such experiences and how does she deal with the challenges. The author has very well captured a teenage girl’s issues that effect both mentally and physically.

What I like:
1. The subtle issues faced by a teenager is explained very nicely
2. The author has taken up taboos and illustrated in a hilarious manner
3. The feeling of love and longing is explained well
4. The story looks very relatable
5. The illustrations look like icing on the cake

What I didn’t like:
The story is very witty and interesting that I didn’t find any drawbacks.

Characters:
All the characters in the story are written with extreme wit, fun, emotions, and honesty. The readers can relate some of them with their own people in around their lives.

Narration:
The narration in the story is funny, warming and interesting. The human feelings are very well showcased be it between the family members or a couple or siblings.

Language & Grammar:
Easy, clear, and colloquial language is used in the book.

My Final Verdict:
A nice story!

Book Title: Dolly Won't Play
Author: Monisha K Gumber
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Dolly Won't Play' is unique and intriguing

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is a young woman's face with a stoicscary expression. The cover in the dark gray and black color gives an eerie feeling.

My review:
When girls complain about bad touch, it is often shooed off The worst part is that mothers being women even if they are aware of the discomfort caused to the girl child ignore. Physical abuse is not just about a momentary touch but it ruptures the psyche of the person. the scar will remain for a long time maybe sometimes till the end of life. We often read and view many incidents but tend to ignore in the name of honor or prestige. It is the person who faces understanding the pain.

In this story, these sensitive yet taboo issues are discussed very strongly. I cannot stop appreciating the daring topic the author has taken up.

Characters:
Every character in the story is drafted very coherently and with conviction. Abusers are not always strangers is one of the best points the author has portrayed through the characters in the story.

Narration:
The narration of the story is one of the best things that can be observed in Author Monisha's books. this happens to be my third book of hers and it has been always a nice feeling reading her stories. If in other books she talked about body shaming and depression, in this book she has taken up the strongest point i.e. physical assault and sexual abuse. The way she dealt with these things in her story with the characters including the central characters is commendable. I can say this is one of the best books from a young Indian woman author who addressed the issues very strongly.

Language & Grammar:
Simple language with error-free Grammar is used in the story.

My Final Verdict:
Relatable and very optimistic

For all teens out there

Teeth triology! Huh? Me too thought it's just some chic-lit rom-com type of book! But to my disappointment, this turned out even more awesome.
I mean which teen would like a sermon of elders preaching "their times". But this book (I mean this triology) is written from the point of view of teens itself.
Ranging from low self-esteem, body image, anxieties, depression and even abuse makes this book complete.
The Three Musketeers tells their version of stories. Under every face there's a whole different story!!
So starting with Tara, a plump girl, had lots self-esteem due to her being healthy. Goes through first crush and the matter turns even worse when she starts a online date and later end up having Bulimia, a serious eating disorder. But she comes out strong, accepting her and learnt new lessons and became strong enough to teach others!
Megha, the all rounder queen, was worn out being the center of her parents hope. All the stress, ends her in serious depression and even try suicide!
Dolly, the dumb beauty as everyone describes her, had her share of story. She had to suffer more than what a child her age could suffer. Being abused often by her Mom's very own best friend, developed ADHD, parents'conflict, and growing up with the monster inside her. She was more than the dumb prom queen. She emerged as a phenix from her own ashes she burnt to save her.
This is a must read for teens.(Not only girls)
