This was a very well written series and this final story ended well. I found it hard to get really interested in this story until about half way through the book and then it started to pick up for me and near the end it was hard to put the book down until I finished it. This book is mainly taking place in Texas around 1904 and could easily be read as a stand alone story. The main character is Addie McRae (whose parents you would know very well from book two in this series "Bandit's Hope"). Addie will leave her comfort zone of Mississippi and become a governess to Ceddy, a little boy who has had a very turbulent beginning to his young life. He will be quite a challenge, but Addie has quite a way with children.

You will also meet Pearson Foster, who arrives in Marshall, Texas, in search of the wreckage of a boat that sunk years ago with her cargo of gold on Lake Caddo. Pearson is a very determined man, but he meets his match when him and Addie cross paths. There is an instant attraction, but there will be many roadblocks and doubts about each other throughout this story. In the end, the truth and true love will prevail. This was a series I am glad I took the time to read and enjoy.

This is book two in the "Backwoods Brides" series and takes place many years later than book one, but does deal with Reddick "Tiller" McRae, who you came to know as a youngster in book one. This story tells you what happened to him after he ran off and left his North Carolina home. You can easily read this as a stand alone story, but there are folks from book one in this story that you will want to get to know better by starting at the beginning of this series.

Tiller McRae is running with a band of thieves and is searching for more in his life. He will wind up on the doorstep of Bell's Inn one night and will take an instant liking to the proprietress, Mariah Bell. Mariah however doesn't take an instant shine to his smooth talking ways. She is out to find a husband though so she can keep the land her Inn in on. Both Tiller and Mariah are hiding some pretty big secrets, which never bode well when a relationship starts to build between them. The consequences of this deception on both their parts leads to heartache and danger for them both.

I like the way this author writes and the time period and place this book is written in were very interesting to me. The folks you meet are full of adventure and have strong character, which just needs to be directed in the right way, and this story shows how giving your life to the Lord can help you deal with your past and find forgiveness and hope for the future. Looking forward to book 3 in this series, "Hunter's Prize", next.

This story was set in North Caroline in the 1870's. It took me to places I have never been and had a unique story line, one that took me by surprise a couple of times. It is a story of a family, who because of one impulsive act, their lives would be turned upside down.

The McRae family has Ma and Pa and Hooper and Duncan and Ellie living together in the swamps. They are a rowdy family, but full of love for each other. When Hooper and Duncan set out to steal a legendary lamp from a home of someone, they end up kidnapping a young lady instead and whisk her away from her fancy home and bring her to their home in the dead of the night. I won't spoil the story for you, but will say that Dawsey, the young lady they kidnap, will fight to return home, but will also learn to love the McRae family and they will learn to love her. But what the family discovers about her was one of the things that took me by surprise.

For me, the story started out a little strange and I didn't think I was following the story very well, but the more I read the more everything fell into place and the more I read, the more I enjoyed my time with the McRae family. Watching how the author weaved this story together became a very enjoyable time for me. Looking forward to reading the next story in this series.

This was a good series, well the your time to read. Emmy's Equal is the third book in this series and you can read it as a stand alone, but you will miss alot of the background on the characters if you don't read them in the order they were written. This is a western romance with a good Christian emphasis. As you get near the end, hang on to your seats, because alot happens and happens fast. This book took a turn at the end that I was not expecting, which is something I always enjoy.

Emmy Dane is trying to trust God with her life, but she does have a headstrong and stubborn personality that she is constantly trying to control. She starts out in her home town, Humble, Texas, wanting to go visit her best friend in St. Louis, but ends up traveling with her parents to Carrizo Springs, Texas to check on some cattle. She isn't a "happy camper" and when she first meets handsome Diego in Carrizo Springs it is a meeting neither one of them will quickly forget. Their feelings for each other though strong, seem to have people and circumstances keeping them apart. There are many interesting interactions and feelings going on between good friends and between parents and their grown-up children. I liked the way the author brought them all together at the end. You will experience stampedes, wildfires, and much more as you read this very well written story of a "strong-willed city girl" who meets her match in a "stubborn vaquero". Enjoy!… (altro)
