This book is from the 90s and you can tell. However, it does have Grout's trademark wit and once you get past the Tony Robbins worship there's some great breathing exercises to try. I did find though that I was pushing too hard to make them work and what I really need are exercises that connect to natural breathing, which is referenced in the bibliography. There were two that interested me that are now out of print, but God bless the internet - I was able to find pdf copies of both and they are next on my list. I really appreciated the first part of the book, the reminder to really think about how I deep breathe. I was just expecting a little more.… (altro)

Excellent central idea, basically the same one covered in Make Miracles in Forty Days: Turning What You Have Into What You Want by Melody Beattie, books by Abraham Hicks, and many other similar gratitude/law of atttraction books: that gratitude is key. But because the idea is so simple (but quite deep-- it's just that there's not much that needs to be written about the topic, in my opinion, it's something that needs to be practiced and experienced), most of the book felt very repetitive. I did like the little anecdotes about good things that happened to real people when they started practicing gratitude, but they were very short and written in such a breezy way that I felt they were kind of shallow. A friend who knows I've been reading up more on quantum physics gave me a copy of this book. The title and subtitle basically say it all. E-Squared by Pam Grout is a series of nine experiments anyone can do with minimal or no equipment to prove the quantum theory that thoughts create reality. Grout starts the book off with a layman's explanation of the quantum field, which she calls the field of unlimited potential, and how we can use it to manifest what we'd like. Grout's writing is entertaining and easy to read.

So how did I do? I attempted 5 of the experiments and I got results with all 5. Not all the results were what I expected with one being quite surprising. It was a lot of fun! I'm planning to try the experiments again sometime in the future.
