The author took two groups of children to Auckland Zoo to write poems about their experiences. The children ranged in age from 7 to 12. This book teaches children that poetry is fun and easy to write. Poetry is 99% imagination! The back of the book provides a glossary of poetry definitions and examples in a poetry toolkit that includes topics such as sound, line breaks, rhythm, figures of speech, form, and layout. This portion of the book is an excellent curriculum connection for introducing children to poetry as well as writing their own poetry.
