Katherine has always done what everyone expects of her – especially her mother. She’s let her mother make every major decision in her life – her college, career, home, vacations… But when her mother tries to convince her not only to marry a man Katherine doesn’t love, but that romantic love doesn’t even exist, Katherine takes a vacation to consider the unexciting proposal. Having never felt passion before, Katherine believes her mother may be right, and yet her heart keeps yearning for the romantic passion she learns from the romance novels she reads.

Jonah not only believes in romantic love, he writes best-selling romantic novels! Having sequestered himself away in his remote mountain cabin after a broken engagement, he is looking for solitude to write. When Katherine’s car crashes into a tree just outside his door, Jonah rescues her and takes her to his cabin. He wasn’t prepared for a houseguest – especially one who makes him feel the things Katherine does, but when she fits his life like the missing pieces of a puzzle, he can’t imagine his life without her.

But their brief affair is abruptly interrupted when Katherine’s mother shows up to collect her and once again, Katherine can’t seem to tell her no. Can Jonah and Katherine overcome the obstacles they face and find a life and love together?

Do not read this book until you have set up a box or two of tissue to dry your tears! The publisher’s blurb for this book does not do it justice! Then again, I am not certain any blurb could accurately convey the depth and heart of Susan Greene’s novel, Snowbound. From reading the synopsis, I expected to enjoy this story, but I was not prepared for the heart-rending tale the author has spun here.

Being a full-length novel gives the author plenty of time to lead the readers through a gamut of emotions, and she takes full advantage of this. Greene layers the obstacles separating Jonah and Katherine on upon another, leaving a new obstacle in place when another is scaled. She deftly builds the tension and angst between the two characters, proving to both characters the depth of their love for each other.

Jonah is an unexpected hero, with the strength of any alpha male tempered with the sensitivity of a romance novelist. He is everything a woman would want in a dream man: intelligent, literate, quick-witted, caring, strong, capable… The list could go on and on. It is easy to see why Katherine is so willing to break her rules in order to have what she believes will be a short fling with Jonah. It is even easier to believe that a man like Jonah might be the impetus to encourage her to finally stand up to her mother and change her life for the better.

Snowbound is an outstanding novel guaranteed to warm your heart on a cold winter’s night. Grab that box of tissue, your favorite blanket, and settle in front of your fire for a wonderful read!
