Author Dan Greenburg was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 20, 1936. He received a B.A. from the University of Illinois and a M.A. from UCLA. He writes for both children and adults. His children's series include Zack Files, Secrets of Dripping Fang, and Maximum Boy. His best-selling adult titles mostra altro include How to Be a Jewish Mother, Scoring, Love Kills, and How to Avoid Love and Marriage. He is also a humorist, a screenwriter, and a playwright. Turns out I am unable to read this on my Kindle Paperwhite because the font is too small and there is no way to enlarge it. I've never run into an issue like this and don't know if there are any workarounds. So, until I figure out how to get it to open on my tablet or laptop, I can't read it. It looks so good, too. I may just have to buy a copy.

I am on my public library board and we are focusing on EDI this year. I requested this book with an eye to recommending it for inclusion in our library. I’m happy to say I will definitely be making this recommendation. This is a charming story that makes an extraordinary woman seem very human through the eyes of her cat. It also should improve people’s opinion of cats, as Sneeze is both wise and funny. It was a nice relief from the pandemic to read this enchanting tale.… (altro)

Dan Greenburg (Point/Virgule, n° 34, 1985). — Des livres de conseils pratiques de style « Comment se faire des amis », « Comment se trouver un emploi », il s’en publie une multitude. Faites vous-même votre malheur de Paul Watzlawick se voulait une parodie de ce type d’ouvrages. Le manuel du parfait petit masochiste (dont la version anglaise date de 1966) s’inscrit dans la même lignée : on y apprend l'art de se torturer soi-même.
Empoisonner son existence, et l’empoisonner de façon durable, suppose la maîtrise de deux concepts fondamentaux : refuser d’accepter ce qu’on ne peut changer et se fixer des objectifs parfaitement irréalistes. Ce guide renferme donc des exercices de pensée négative, des craintes minimales pour les voyages en avion, les conditions optimales pour broyer du noir, bref toutes les techniques de base pour se créer une vie vraiment pénible, misérable et dépourvue de sens, sans oublier les stratégies pour perdre son emploi, son (sa) chum et ses amis. Et j’en passe…
Après lecture de ce manuel, vous saurez transformer les petites peurs et inquiétudes de la vie quotidienne en véritables angoisses.
