Mother Goose’s three little ones, Boo, Lucy, and Small, are woven into stories that flow around classic Mother Goose rhymes in this bright and appealing book. This book is great for children who enjoy the poetry of nursery rhymes, but like to engage in more plot than the verses provide. The stories gently lead from one rhyme to another in a narrative that, while delightful, does not detract from the text of the poetry. Scheffler’s bright, cartoon-like illustrations illuminate mood and plot and have many imaginative elements to explore.

? – By adding the story element are we discouraging or impairing the imaginative value of the rhymes? Should additional story be left for the reader to imagine?
