Uro di Daniil Granin
Very good novel about the life of a russian scientist of the beginning of XX century, pionering work in genetics and evolution, and the clash with the comunist regime.
Despite my strong interest in Soviet science, I just couldn't get into The Bison... or perhaps I should say "because of my strong interest in Soviet science": I think it takes some time to get to the science in this painfully leisurely narrative.
