Eileen Goudge was born July 4, 1950 and grew up in the San Francisco bay area. She began writing at the age of eight. At eighteen, she dropped out of college, ran off with a man dodging the draft, and got married. Two years later, she was divorced, with a baby, and had to go on welfare. She decided mostra altro to become a professional writer, started writing non-stop and managed to sell a few articles. In the early eighties, she was chosen to help launch a new line of teen romances, which became the successful Sweet Valley High series. She now had enough money to end another bad marriage and move to New York City with her two children. She continued to write the Sweet Valley High titles while working on a novel. Her first novel, Garden of Lies, was sold in 1986 to Viking for nearly one million dollars. Since then, she has written over thirty novels for young adults and over ten works of women's fiction. Her other works include Thorns of Truth, The Diary, and Once in a Blue Moon. Her title The Diary is a New York Times bestseller. Un libro con una historia maravillosa y muy emotiva, sobre la vida de dos chicas intercambiadas al nacer y como todo a su alrededor se alínea para enlazar sus vidas a medidas que van creciendo.
Gave it up 25% in. Completely sophomoric. Not counting this as a read, but happy to waste no more time on it than I already have.

The initial premise was interesting but somewhat unimaginable to happen in real life. Halfway through it started to become predictable and too well packaged, everything was tied in a nice bow by the end like a bad romantic comedy.

Emily and Sarah have to clean out the family home after their mother is debilitated by a stroke. They find her diary and are stunned to find that the story of their parents' lives together is not what they thought it was. While their mother is not able to clarify or add to what her daughters learn, they are able to resolve the mystery. This reminds me of Bridge of Clay and how all parents hold back pieces of their real lives from their children. Also, it is about how we do come to a point in our maturity when it is gratifying to learn who our parents really are. Reminds me to be transparent and honest even when that is painful and it is easier to cover up the "messy" parts of life.… (altro)
