Taking Diabetes to School is a very important topic that a lot of students witness in school. This book includes a lot of pertinent information about living with diabetes. The main character is very relatable and makes a point to emphasize his relatable traits. At the end of each page, there is a sentence that sums up the information. They are smaller lessons within the main lesson of acceptance. Students with and without diabetes will be able to relate and understand the story. This would be a great book to read when discussing differences or medical phenomenons. This could help students understand the differences of peers with diabetes which will encourage acceptance and compassion.… (altro)

I liked this book for many reasons. First, the book pushes readers to think about issues like smoking and health. For example, Maddie's grandpa smokes and is becoming more and more sick. His smoking makes her allergies worse and she wants him to quit so that he is healthy. Another reason why I liked this book was because the main character of Maddie was believable. For example, she is so worried about her grandpa's health and is also very curious to learn about why he smokes when he knows its bad for him. The big idea of this story is that smoking is bad for you. Maddie's grandpa ends up quitting smoking and she learns that smoking does not make some one cool.… (altro)

This book says it is for kids of all ages, I however think it is more for preschool age students. The terms identified in the "ABC's" are ones that most kids would know, even those without asthma.

A little boy named Brian discovers he has juvenile diabetes and feels alone. His mother gets him a bear and alters it in a way that is comforting to Brian. Brain loves new friend and finds it easier to cope with his new way of life.
