Alan H. Goodman

A rather good book for a library on race and racism. It has a nice presentation -- the text and the pictures draw you into reading more. There are maps, diagrams, and timelines to help you follow the story but you are never swallowed up by the story. Issues of sicle cell anemia, athletic performance, skin color, apportionment, civil rights are all brought up among other things.

A nice chart shows the variability of the U.S. Census in asking people about race. This a reflection of the culture at various periods. I'm not sure how Aleuts have been counted from decade to decade, but everything else is quite good.… (altro)
