Aron Goldfarb was born to a Jewish family in Bialobrzegi, Poland, one of seven children of Moshe and Sarah Goldfarb. In 1941, most of the family was deported toTreblinka. Aron and his older brothers Itzhak and Abraham were sent to the Pionki forced labor camp. Another brother, Jacob, escaped to Russia. In 1944, Aron and his two brothers and a friend, Zisman Birman, escaped from the Pionki camp and headed for the forests. Itzhak Goldfarb and Zisman Birman were caught while in hiding and executed. Aron and Abraham survived the war by living in a bunker they built, In a displaced persons camp in Germany at the end of the war, Aron met and married Esther Disman; they moved to Israel. Aron worked as a farmer while serving in the Israeli Army. In 1956, the family emigrated to the USA, where Aron was reunited with his surviving brothers. He used his skills learned in Poland as an apprentice shoemaker to start a successful leather apparel business. His memoir, Maybe You Will Survive: A True Story (the title taken from his father's last words to him) was published in 2010.
