In which an adventurer undertakes to ride a bicycle the length of the Americas. His mission is altered slightly but significantly by a television producer he's pitching his documentary idea to who insists on the bicycle being a tandem and that the author recruit people to help him pedal. This was a good idea; the trip partners are often quite interesting, and it transpires that cycling the Americas is not all that unique in and of itself: at times it seems as though every fifth cyclist he runs into is doing it. This is a friendly, interesting book and one feels that the author is being frank. A better map (or, better, maps) and a little better sense of the calendar would have added another star.… (altro)
