Traducción al castellano de la traducción libre que hizo Antoine Galland al francés a partir de 1704. Este autor fue también quien añadió a la colección algunos de los cuentos más famosos, como "Aladino y la lámpara maravillosa", "Ali Babá y los cuarenta ladrones" y "Simbad el marino". Many of the stories one reads nowadays can be a bit on the predictable side - if not the whole plot, at least part of it (I'm looking at you, books that make it clear from the beginning who's going to survive, who's going to be romantically paired with whom, and so on...).

The tales here are completely different. They begin by showing us the result of an adventure, and then their protagonists go on the tell their story - and it's very hard to try to guess what's coming in most of them, since they are superbly imaginative. It can be a bit tough to read when the stories start weaving into each other, but I found it well worth it. One won't be left with any deep thoughts or revelations of any kind, but for pure entertainment I found it to be excelent!… (altro)
