AEC BOOK REVIEW
Release Date-18/7/18

After reading that hooking blurb there was no way I was passing this up it all sounded just so deliciously enticing.
And so often these things do disappoint us; failing to deliver on the promised attraction, but not here; this is one story I'm happy to impart that definitely lives up to its hype in every way possible.
Almost instantly upon starting this I was sold and invested for the whole duration "The price of Brimstone" managed to enthral and capture my attention just so effortlessly.
Weaving such an intricate web of misinformation and manipulation all wrapped up so prettily with a side-order of romance and a dash of devilish intent.
Being a new author for me I wasn't really sure what to expect here but it was all good and I'm pleased to say I was greatly entertained by this.
So the description here says it all there's a monster or if you will Demon in Judes basement.
Placed there by her brother Russel and his friend Max so they can attempt to harvest information on the whereabouts of two of there friends.
And after Her brother's extreme methods of inducement, Jude decides to covertly use her own powers of persuasion with much superior results.
But is she being played by a master manipulator, a demon deceiver and is there a greater power at play here moving its pieces in a macabre chess match; only time and Loc himself has the answer.
So I loved this so much. it was such an unusual tale that really stands out in its genre.
Locryn Price; well in my opinion though this is told from Jude's perspective apart from a small part at the end (which I adored by the way; so typical Loc) this is his book.
Loc is the standout character that made this such an intriguing read for me without him; well there is just no real pull.
He had all the best one-liners and with his acerbic derisive wit, I couldn't help panting after him tongue hanging out along with Jude herself as he attempted to transverse the rocky road of his own disinterested humanity.
With his unapologetic askew moral compass, It was then fascinating to spectate as Jude tried to see the best and hone in on his more human attributes.
Sometimes with a lot more success than others.
So amusing being a fly on the wall as Jude tries to explain the concept of Love To a less than impressed Loc.
So this wasn't major fast paced and was quite a slow drawn out story but it seemed to work.
Managing to build up the anticipation just so nicely.
Amazingly humorous instances combined with an almost intensity at times make "The price of Brimstone" so utterly readable.
I adored the haunted carousel episode with the horses; the internal imagery this inspired within with its vivid prose setting the scene so splendidly.

Nightmares are only dreams that have grown bored of the monotony. They're so much more interesting if you ask me.

Whether or not they're bad depends on your point of view. To some nightmares consist of chaos and macabre imagery. That's why people fear them. You see they don't appreciate the thrill, the adrenaline rush of not knowing whats going to happen next. What sort of person are you, Judith? Do you embrace your nightmares? or do you run from them?

This was quite a long read in itself but I didn't find myself drifting as It easily held my attention throughout.
There were not that many developed side characters really only Russel and Max and if I'm honest neither was much to write home about.
Russell himself was such a whiny tantrum throwing brat; just so needed a biotch-slap and Max, well he was just a bit MEH!.
Next, to Locryn he just seemed like such a wet blanket.
Besides these two there was only really Sky. Owen and a few lesser demons.
The main focus here really stays on Jude and Loc throughout which definitely does work.

I only really had some teensy grievances here that caused me to drop half a star and there only minor personal preferences.
I wasn't struck on the ending here and would have prefered an alternative to what we were given.
I can't really say much more as have no wish to spoil this for anyone.
I would also have liked to have been subjected to more of Loc's POV; I'm not the biggest fan of the type of storytelling where we only get one viewpoint, much preferring dual.
As I said earlier we did get a snippet near the end but that was so not enough; it only whet my appetite for more.
So that's it really; this for me was a fabulous read that I can't recommend enough.
I would definitely read more Locryn, in fact, I would go as far as to say I need to with that bittersweet finale.
Team Loc all the way for me; I really would love to read more about this fascinating Demon.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of "The Price Of Brimstone" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions are entirely my own.

Sara returns to her hometown to live with her dad and finish out her senior year of high school. She is surprised to find that her dad has become guardian to Rob, a neighborhood kid who has lost both his parents in a house fire. She remembered Rob as an anti-social goth kid who always gave her the creeps. But three years is a lot of time for people to change. Sara is forced to interact with the now sexy and all filled out 18 year old Rob who has traded his black eyeliner for football gear. She discovers that not only has Rob changed but so have a lot of things in her town.

Outcasts are now the cool kids and ugly ducklings are now in the homecoming court. She soon finds out that there are plenty of secrets swirling around and things aren't as they appear. She and Rob eventually give into their attraction to each other, and he starts opening up to Sara just as strange things start happening around them. Things she can't help suspecting Rob of. Can she overlook her suspicions and just love the person he is with her even if it means possible danger to herself and others around her.

"So you can't leave me, Sara. You just can't, and that that's all there is to it. As long as I'm breathing, you have to keep breathing too. That's the deal."

It really kept my attention and I honestly didn't see the ending coming. Which was brilliant. I felt it was so unpredictable yet made sense at the same time.

Great read!
