- Breve biografia
- Georgia Marjam Gabor was born to a prominent Jewish family in Budapest, Hungary. She was the only survivor in her family of the Holocaust in World War II besides one cousin. After the Germans invaded in March 1944, she witnessed the bombings in Budapest, the brutal beatings and torture of Hungarian Jews, the roundups and deportations. She survived and emigrated to the USA, where she first worked as a dressmaker and designer. She then became a research and development computer programmer and systems analyst at Todd Shipyards, the Douglas Aircraft Company, and General Precision. After earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics (1966) and a master's degree in educational psychology (1968) from the University of California at Los Angeles, she launched a new career as a high school mathematics teacher in the Los Angeles and San Marino School Systems. She had kept a journal of her experiences in her early life and wrote an autobiography called My Destiny: Survivor of the Holocaust, published in 1981.
