Breve biografia
Nancy Furstinger is the author of nearly 100 books, including many on her favorite topic: animals! She started her writing career in third grade, when her class performed a play she wrote while recovering from chicken pox. Since then, Nancy has been a feature writer for a daily newspaper, a managing editor of trade and consumer magazines, and an editor at two children's book publishing houses. She shares her home and heart with big dogs, house rabbits, and a chinchilla (all rescued), and volunteers and fosters pets for several animal organizations. Nancy has been speaking up for animals since she learned to talk, and she hasn't shut up yet! Please adopt, don't shop.

Okay. So I'm sucker for this book on a couple of levels.

1.) It involves the British royal family. I'm slightly obsessed
2.) Guy is a beagle. I grew up with beagles. Beagles are my jam.

I really could end my review there. No, the book is not spectacularly written. But guess what? I don't care! This book is a fun introduction into the newest member of the British royal family. And the illustrations capture photographs so well (people might recognize the wedding photo or the picture of Guy in the car with the Queen).

Yes, I bought this book. It's a fun one for me. I won't use it in storytime but no one said I had to all the time ;)

I'm a sucker for dog heroes, so this little book with 3-4 page biographies of dogs who have served in various capacities with the military, search and rescue, and police hit the spot. Geared for tween readers, the book includes lots of photos and sidebars. From WWI battlefields to the World Trade Center and the Italian beaches (water rescue dogs), dogs of many breeds have worked with handlers from many countries. A feel good book about furry, heroic canines.

Note: Although some of the featured dogs were injured in the line of duty, none were killed.… (altro)

This book was a very good informational text about Great White Sharks. It discusses the lifespan of a shark, a sharks bite, the habitat of a shark, and the types of marine animals that sharks eat. Another thing I liked about this book is the fast facts section at the end of the book. This section provides students with some quick facts about great white sharks. This book is appropriate for grades 3-5.
