This book takes place in 12th century France and England - a very interesting time period for a book. Although Emmeline is a bit unrealistic and anachronistic, and the history is imperfect, this book is still well-written and enjoyable. Talvas is a likeable character, and while Emmeline is annoying (as most anachronistic characters are for me), she's not annoying enough that I find myself hating her. A good enough read.

This was actually a blast. The slow burn between the two of them is interesting. Gisela is trying to help her family (the not killing her father for his stupid is a moment of great restraint) when Ragnar Olafson rescues her and they find a common goal, things will never be the same for the two of them again. The two of them are good together and they seem to work together.

A fun romance with an interesting pair of characters on a quest that has them both finding out more about themselves.

Alinor of Claverstock is trying to survive, she doubts that marriage will improve her life. Her step-brother wants to marry her for the land but she finds him repulsive and his mother is worse. The wife the queen has sent is Bianca d'Attalens, but Alinor's stepmother doesn't want her and tries to get Alinor to poison her. However Alinor rescues her. When Guilhem, Duc d'Attalens comes to see his sister only to find her missing and attraction in Alinor. Sparks fly and things get complicated.

There was something missing in this for me, Alinor was too perfect perhaps and I would have liked to see some flaws that weren't physical. Still it was an entertaining read.
