The Nelson Mandela Foundation

This book chronicles the life of Nelson Mandela through graphic novel format. It is so packed full of information, it would really be better suited as a biography. The panels have little spoken word, relying instead on descriptive text that details the backstory. The illustrations do add to the text, providing an image for visual learners. However, because the background text is so central to the story, and because there is so much of it that only a panel or two is allotted to each scene, these learners will still be required to read more than they may be comfortable with. The images allow for less descriptive text, but they are so cluttered with background text that this is more or less negated. If the book could be made into a series, with more panels allotted per scene and therefore less text required, it could be an awesome and accessible depiction of a great man’s life. However, in the format it is in currently, it doesn’t quite work.… (altro)
